Item history
No 6. Planet Single Row Horse Hoe. The single row horse hoe was pulled by one horse and controlled by a man walking behind using the handles to steer along the row. It was used to cultivate between rows of peas, potatoes, corn, pumpkins etc. to control weeds and conserve moisture. The row width and cultivation depth was adjusted by moving the various levers. With only one row being cultivated at a time the farmer had to walk many miles per day in the loose cultivated soil, and as most crops were usually grown through the summer it was a hot, dusty, tiresome job.
